That’s a good point about digital copies being so easy to get now. I’ve seen people get pretty stressed when they can’t find their insurance card, but honestly, most companies can send a PDF or even a temporary card right away. Still, I’d argue it’s worth keeping a recent paper copy in your glove box—sometimes tech fails at the worst possible moment. Just make sure your info’s up to date; you’d be surprised how often folks forget to update after a move or policy change.

Couldn’t agree more. I’ve had my phone die right as I needed to show proof once—total headache. Old-school paper backup in the glove box has saved me more than once, especially at car shows where cell service is spotty. Just gotta remember to swap it out when the policy renews... that’s the part I always forget.

I get the logic behind keeping a paper copy, but honestly, I’ve had more issues with those than with my phone. Here’s my track record:

- Paper in glove box? Coffee spill. Instant unreadable mush.
- Left it in the car too long? Sun faded the print until it looked like a ghost wrote it.
- Tried to swap it out when the policy renewed... but then found three expired ones and couldn’t remember which was current.

I just started emailing myself the PDF and pinning it to the top of my inbox. Even if my phone dies, I can usually borrow someone else’s or hit up a library computer. Not perfect, but at least I don’t have to worry about soggy paperwork or digging through a pile of old registration slips. Guess it’s a “pick your poison” situation—either way, something’s bound to go wrong for me eventually.

Honestly, I get where you’re coming from. I still keep a paper copy tucked away just in case, but I’ve had the sun-fade thing happen too. One time, the ink was so light the cop just laughed and asked if I had it on my phone. Digital’s definitely more reliable most days, but I still worry about dead batteries or no signal. Maybe overkill, but I keep both—just in different spots now.

I’m with you on the “both” approach—feels like the only way to cover your bases. I actually started keeping a laminated copy in my glove box after a coffee spill ruined the original. Digital’s great, but tech always fails me when I need it most.
