Good points, though I'm a bit skeptical insurers actually reward loyalty much these days... seems like they're always chasing new customers. Still, you're rightβbuilding a better record never hurts, and patience might pay off eventually. Hang in there, OP.
Yeah, loyalty perks definitely aren't what they used to be. I remember sticking with one insurer for years thinking I'd get some kind of special treatment, but nopeβended up switching and saving a decent chunk. Still, like you said, building a clean record is always worth it in the long run. Curious though, has anyone noticed if classic car insurance companies handle "risky driver" labels differently? Seems like they'd have a different take since we're usually extra careful with our rides...
I've actually had some experience with this. A few years back, I got tagged as a "high-risk" driver after a couple of speeding tickets (nothing crazy, just bad luck and poor timing). Anyway, when I went to insure my '68 Mustang, I figured classic car insurers would be more understanding since, like you said, we baby these cars. Turns out, they do look at things a bit differentlyβat least in my case.
They asked a lot more questions about how often I drove it, where I stored it, and even wanted photos of my garage setup. It felt like they were more interested in how I treated the car rather than just my driving record. Ended up getting a decent rate, surprisingly. Still higher than someone with a spotless record, but way better than what regular insurers quoted me.
So yeah, classic car insurers seem to factor in the whole picture more. They're not exactly ignoring the risky label, but they're definitely more willing to listen and consider your actual habits. Just my two cents...

Had a similar experience insuring my '72 Chevelle. Got labeled high-risk after one minor accident (totally my fault, unfortunately). Classic insurers definitely dug deeper into storage and usage habits. Ended up installing a security system in my garage to lower the premiumβworth it in the long run, but yeah, they do look beyond just your driving record.

Interesting you mention the security system. Did they specifically confirm that lowered your premium, or was it just implied? I've seen cases where insurers suggest upgrades, but the actual discount isn't always clear...
