Dashcams are nice to have, but honestly insurers are gonna insurer... footage or not. Had a fender-bender with zero footage and weirdly enough, the process wasn't that different from yours. Maybe it's just luck of the draw? Or bad luck, lol.

I get what you're saying, but honestly, dashcam footage has saved my butt more than once. Being labeled high-risk already puts you on thin ice with insurers, and having clear video evidence can sometimes tip the scales in your favor. A couple years back, I got sideswiped by someone who tried to pin it on me. Without the dashcam footage, it would've been my word against theirs, and given my driving record... well, let's just say insurers aren't exactly lining up to trust me.

Sure, maybe your experience was luck of the draw, but when you're already paying sky-high premiums in Hawaii (seriously, it's brutal here), every little bit helps. Dashcams aren't magic bullets, but they can definitely make a difference when things get messy.

Totally agree dashcams aren't a cure-all, but when you're driving something pricey, insurers love to assume you're automatically at fault. Had a minor fender-bender last year—nothing major—but the other driver immediately started talking about my "fancy car" and how I must've been speeding. Dashcam footage shut that down real quick. Didn't magically lower my premiums (still ridiculous here in HI), but it definitely kept things from getting worse...

Dashcams definitely help, but insurers here seem to find any excuse to hike rates.

"Dashcam footage shut that down real quick."

Had a similar thing happen to me—a small scrape, nothing serious, but the other driver immediately assumed I was reckless because my car looked "sporty." Even with clear footage, my premiums stayed high. Honestly, being labeled high-risk in Hawaii feels like an expensive club membership I never wanted...

Yeah, dashcams are great for clearing things up, but insurers here seem pretty set in their ways. Had a minor fender-bender myself last year—totally not my fault—and even though the footage clearly showed that, my rates barely budged.

Exactly how it feels. It's frustrating because once you're tagged, it's tough shaking that label off...even when you drive carefully every day.
