Had a similar thing happen on a road trip once—barely tapped someone's bumper at a rest stop, zero visible damage. Thought I was good, but two weeks later got a call about some hidden sensor issue. Lesson learned: better safe than sorry...

Yeah, sensors these days are crazy sensitive and expensive. Had something similar happen to my cousin—he barely nudged a parked car outside a grocery store. No visible scratches, dents, nothing. He left a note anyway just to be safe. Turns out the owner called him back saying the backup camera stopped working after the bump. At first, I was skeptical—like, really? A tiny tap can mess up electronics now? But after seeing the repair bill (ouch), I realized how interconnected and fragile modern cars have become.

Still, part of me wonders if some folks use these minor incidents as an excuse to fix pre-existing issues...but I guess that's just me being cynical. Either way, reporting it upfront probably saves headaches down the line. Better to deal with it early than get blindsided later by some surprise bill or insurance hassle.

Yeah, totally get your skepticism about people possibly using minor bumps to fix pre-existing issues. I've wondered the same thing myself...but honestly, with how sensitive these electronics are now, it's hard to tell.

Exactly this. Even if it feels overly cautious, reporting upfront probably saves you from bigger headaches later. Cars today are basically rolling computers—one tiny bump and suddenly you're paying for someone's fancy sensor replacement. Better safe than sorry indeed.

Yeah, I hear you. I've been in a similar spot myself—barely tapped someone's bumper once, couldn't even see a scratch. Thought about just shrugging it off, but then remembered a buddy who had something similar happen and ended up footing a huge bill for some sensor replacement he swore wasn't his fault.

Exactly. As much as I hate dealing with insurance (and watching my rates creep up), it's probably better to bite the bullet and report it upfront. Even if it feels like you're being overly cautious, you're really just protecting yourself from someone else's pre-existing issues or surprises down the line. Plus, peace of mind counts for something...right?

Yeah, sensors can be a nightmare...but honestly, I've had minor bumps before and never reported them without issues. Still, with newer luxury cars, maybe it's smarter to play it safe. Anyone here actually had insurance save them from a surprise sensor bill?
