Had something similar happen to me a couple years back. Even though there was no visible damage, I took a few quick photos just in case and we exchanged info. Never heard anything else about it, but honestly, it's always better to cover your bases. Maybe snap some pics for your own records and chat it out first—insurance can sometimes complicate things unnecessarily. Did you notice if the other driver seemed concerned at all?

Yeah, insurance can definitely be a hassle sometimes... but honestly, isn't it riskier not to report it at all? I'm pretty new to this whole insurance thing myself, and I've heard stories where people thought everything was fine, then weeks later the other driver suddenly claimed damage. Did the other person seem chill enough to trust they'd let it go, or did you get any weird vibes from them?

Honestly, even if the other person seemed chill, you never really know how they'll react once they've had time to think it over or talk to someone else. I've seen situations where everything seemed fine at first, then suddenly the other driver changes their mind after chatting with friends or family who convince them to report it. Plus, some damage isn't immediately visible—like bumper clips or sensors behind the plastic that can get messed up even from a minor bump.

Did you happen to snap any quick photos of both cars at the scene? Having some visual proof could really help if things get complicated later on. Also, do you know if your insurance has any kind of grace period or forgiveness policy for minor incidents? Might be worth checking into that before deciding either way...

Totally agree with this point. I had a similar thing happen recently—barely tapped someone's bumper, and initially it looked like nothing. Later on, they took it to a mechanic and found out the sensor behind was cracked. Ended up costing way more than I'd expected.

A few things I'd suggest from experience:
- Definitely take photos even if you think it's nothing. Better safe than sorry.
- Ask the other driver if they're willing to sign something quick stating no visible damage at the scene. Might sound awkward, but could save headaches later.
- Check your policy carefully. Mine had a one-time forgiveness clause for minor stuff, which saved me from a premium hike.

I used to think these little taps weren't a big deal, but you never know what's hidden behind the bumper these days...

That's a really helpful perspective, especially about getting something signed at the scene—I hadn't thought of that before. Honestly, as someone new to insurance, I'm skeptical about how much coverage actually helps with minor stuff like this... but your experience gives me hope it's worth it. I'll definitely double-check my policy now to see if there's anything similar in there. Thanks for sharing your story, makes me feel a bit less anxious about the whole thing.
