bumped someone's car lightly, no visible damage—should I report?

"Even if there's no visible damage, internal issues (like alignment or sensor calibration) can pop up later."

Good point about the hidden tech stuff—modern cars are basically computers on wheels now. Had a similar thing happen myself; tapped someone's bumper lightly, zero marks, but their parking sensors started acting weird a week later. Ended up costing more than you'd think. Curious though, anyone know how long after a minor bump these sensor issues usually show up? Seems unpredictable...

Yeah, totally agree with this. Had a friend who barely nudged someone's car—no visible damage at all—but the backup camera started glitching randomly about two weeks later. Seems like these sensor issues can pop up anytime... kinda frustrating honestly.

Yeah, it's wild how sensitive these newer cars are becoming. I mean, remember when a minor bump meant just checking for scratches or dents? Now it's like, "Did I just break the car's brain?" 😂

In all seriousness though, even if there's no visible damage, reporting it can sometimes save headaches down the road. I've seen situations where someone thought everything was fine, only to have the other party come back weeks later with sensor or camera issues. And trust me, those sensors aren't cheap to fix—it's not like swapping out a bumper or repainting a scratch anymore.

Did your friend end up having to pay out of pocket for that glitchy camera, or did insurance step in? Usually, if you report it early—even if nothing seems wrong at first—it can help protect you from surprise claims later. Plus, insurance companies generally prefer knowing upfront rather than dealing with a messy situation weeks after the fact.

But yeah, totally get how frustrating it is. Cars used to be simple machines; now they're practically smartphones with wheels. Makes you wonder what's next... self-driving cars getting offended and refusing to start because you slammed the door too hard? 😅

Haha, seriously though, it's getting ridiculous. Last month I tapped a parked car—like barely touched it—and spent the next 15 minutes googling "how sensitive are parking sensors" in a panic. Thankfully nothing came of it, but now I'm paranoid every time I parallel park. Makes me wonder...has anyone actually had one of these tiny bumps trigger a full-on sensor meltdown?

Totally get the paranoia—been there myself. A couple years back, I lightly bumped a friend's bumper, sensors went nuts for a sec but settled right down. Honestly, they're sensitive but usually not meltdown-level sensitive...you're probably fine.
