Had a bit of an awkward moment today... accidentally tapped someone's bumper in the parking lot. Got out, checked carefully, and honestly couldn't see any damage at all. The other driver was chill about it, said it's fine and drove off. But now I'm second-guessing myself—should I still report this to insurance or police just to cover myself, or is that overkill? Curious what others have done in similar situations.

Had something similar happen to me last year—nudged a car at the grocery store parking lot. Like you, couldn't see any damage, and the other driver waved it off. I thought about reporting it but figured why risk my premiums going up over nothing? Nothing ever came of it, thankfully. If there's genuinely no damage and the other person's cool, I'd say you're probably fine just letting it go...but that's just me being practical (and maybe a little cheap, lol).

Had a similar thing happen a couple years back—barely tapped someone's bumper, no visible marks, and the other driver was chill about it. Still, from an insurance standpoint, snapping a quick pic or jotting down details never hurts...just in case something pops up later. Better safe than sorry.

Had something similar happen last year. Was backing out of a tight parking spot downtown and just barely nudged the car behind me. Got out, checked it over—nothing visible at all. The other driver was super relaxed about it too, said not to worry and drove off.

But yeah, I still snapped a quick photo of both bumpers and jotted down the plate number just in case. Felt a bit paranoid at the time, but figured better safe than sorry. Nothing ever came of it, thankfully...but you never know when someone might change their mind later or notice something you didn't catch at first glance.

Honestly, if there's no damage and everyone's cool about it, reporting probably isn't necessary. But keeping your own record is smart—just gives you peace of mind.

Taking a quick photo is definitely smart advice. Had a similar bump last summer—no visible damage, other driver waved it off—but I still documented everything briefly. Never needed it, but better to have proof than rely on memory alone.
