Hadn't even thought about the towing equipment angle...makes sense though. Wonder if dealerships are starting to offer their own specialized EV towing services yet, or is that still too niche?

Actually ran into this exact issue last summer on a road trip through Oregon. The local dealership didn't have their own EV-specific towing, but they did recommend a towing company nearby that had the right gear. Seems like dealerships aren't quite there yet, but they're definitely aware of the need. Maybe it's still too niche or just not cost-effective yet for them to handle directly? Curious to see how quickly that changes as more EVs hit the roads...

Dealerships are usually slow to adaptβ€”seen it plenty with insurance claims. Good on you for finding a workaround though. EV infrastructure's improving steadily, so hopefully these headaches become less common soon... hang in there.

Yeah, dealerships can be pretty slow on the uptake sometimes. I remember when my parents first got their EV, we had a similar issueβ€”got stranded at a charging station that was supposed to be working but wasn't. Ended up waiting around for hours until roadside assistance finally showed up. Definitely taught me to always have a backup plan and double-check charging station reviews before heading out.

But you're right, things are getting better. I've noticed more reliable chargers popping up around town lately, and apps seem to be updating faster too. Still, I always keep an eye on my battery percentage and plan routes carefullyβ€”maybe I'm overly cautious, but better safe than sorry, right? Hopefully, in a few years, we'll look back at these early EV hiccups and laugh... or at least cringe a little less.

Couldn't agree more with this. I've found that having a portable EV charger in the trunk can be a real lifesaver too. Sure, it's slow and not ideal for everyday use, but in a pinch, it can get you enough juice to reach a proper charging station. Learned that lesson after nearly getting stranded myself on a road trip last summer... definitely not an experience I'd like to repeat.
