I’ve run into the same thing—Delaware feels like a weird outlier.

“some companies just don’t bother”
That’s exactly what I was told when I called around. I’m new to all this, and it’s honestly a little overwhelming trying to compare options when half of them don’t even offer what you need. I did get a decent quote from a regional carrier, but I’m nervous about the claims process after hearing stories like yours. Guess it really is about picking the least-bad option and hoping you never have to file a claim...

Yeah, Delaware definitely makes it weird. I totally get feeling overwhelmed—shopping for insurance here feels like a scavenger hunt where half the clues are missing. I’ve had a regional carrier too, and the claims process wasn’t awful, just slow. Honestly, sometimes “least-bad” is the best you can do. Just gotta hope you never need to test them out, right?

I hear you on the “least-bad” option. I’ve got a coupe that’s my baby, and just finding someone willing to cover it in Delaware was a saga. Ended up with a policy that’s... fine, I guess? At this point, I’d settle for a company that actually answers the phone and doesn’t act shocked when I say “Delaware.”

That’s been my experience too—Delaware seems to confuse every agent I talk to. It’s wild how just getting a real person on the phone feels like a win these days. At least you found something workable, even if it’s not perfect. Sometimes “fine” is as good as it gets with insurance, especially for specialty cars.

Yeah, Delaware’s insurance market can be a real maze. I’ve seen policies get tripped up by tiny state-specific rules—like, even VIN mismatches can throw things off. Getting a live person who actually knows the ins and outs? That’s half the battle. Specialty cars just add another layer... sometimes you really do have to settle for “good enough.”
