cracked windshield—worth filing an insurance claim or nah?

Driving home yesterday, minding my own business, when BAM—a rock flies up from nowhere and leaves a nasty crack right in the middle of my windshield. It's not huge yet, maybe about the size of a quarter, but I'm worried it'll spread. I've never dealt with windshield stuff before, so I'm kinda clueless here.

My insurance covers comprehensive stuff, but I'm wondering if it's even worth filing a claim for something like this. Heard mixed things from friends—some say it's no biggie and won't affect premiums, others say it might bump up rates later on. Plus, there's the deductible to think about...ugh.
