I get what you’re saying, but honestly, I kinda appreciate when they nitpick—hear me out. Last year, my buddy’s classic Mustang got denied a claim because he’d “forgotten” to mention a tiny aftermarket knob on the dash. If they’re asking about your air freshener, at least you know they’re thorough and not gonna pull a fast one later. Annoying? Sure. But sometimes that weird attention to detail actually saves your bacon down the road.

That’s a good point—never thought about it that way. I guess it’s better to deal with a million questions up front than get blindsided later. Out of curiosity, do you keep a running list of mods or changes for your car? I’ve started jotting stuff down, but it’s easy to forget the little things.

Honestly, I’m a bit skeptical about how much detail is really necessary, but I do keep a spreadsheet with every mod and tweak—down to the weird little trim pieces I swapped out. It’s saved me more than once when insurance asked for proof or details after a claim. The trick is snapping a quick photo and jotting a note right after you do anything, even if it feels minor. Ever had an insurer push back on a claim because of missing documentation? That’s what got me into the habit in the first place...

That spreadsheet habit is gold—seriously, you’re ahead of the game. Most folks only realize they need proof after it’s too late. I’ve seen claims get stuck over a $20 badge swap... Insurance loves paperwork almost as much as they love loopholes. Keep snapping those pics.

Spreadsheet and photo backups are clutch, but I’ve seen folks get tripped up by not having receipts for little stuff—like aftermarket mirrors or even floor mats. Some carriers get picky about “original” parts. Do you guys keep receipts for every upgrade, or just the big-ticket items? I’m always torn between saving every scrap of paper and just tracking the expensive stuff.
