Okay, random scenario here...imagine you suddenly inherit your grandpa's beloved vintage car. It's a beauty, but you've got no garage, just street parking and some sketchy weather conditions (think rain, snow, occasional hail). Um, how would you guys handle storing something like that properly? Would you rent storage, buy a heavy-duty cover, or maybe even sell it off? Curious how you'd tackle this.

Honestly, I'd probably start out thinking a heavy-duty cover would be enough...but speaking from experience, covers and hail don't exactly mix well. A few years back, I had this old Mustangβ€”nothing fancy, but it was my babyβ€”and I figured a good cover would protect it just fine. First hailstorm taught me otherwise. Let's just say the hood ended up looking like a golf ball.

If the car really means something to you (and it sounds like it does), renting storage might be worth the peace of mind. I know it's an extra expense, but trust me, after dealing with insurance claims all day, I've seen enough "hail vs. vintage car" horror stories to last a lifetime. Selling it off would feel wrong somehow...like giving away family history. But hey, if storage is too pricey, maybe you could sweet-talk a friend or relative into lending you some garage space in exchange for pizza and beer every now and then? Worked for me once or twice.

Haha, can confirm pizza and beer bribes work wondersβ€”got my brother-in-law's garage space for a whole winter that way. But seriously, covers are basically hail magnets. If storage is a stretch, maybe look into DIY padding solutions? A buddy once layered blankets and pool noodles under the cover...looked ridiculous but did the trick. Anyone ever tried something similar or am I just lucky my neighbors didn't call me out on it?
