I get where you're coming from, but honestly, inspections might just open another can of worms. I've had a '68 Camaro parked in my driveway for years, and even though I keep it covered and tidy, the last thing I want is some city inspector poking around every couple of months. Sure, your friend with the Mustang got hassled unfairly, but imagine how subjective these inspections could become. One inspector's "clean and safe" might be another's "eyesore."

A few years back, my neighbor had a beautifully restored Corvette. He did everything right—drip pans, pest repellents, regular maintenance—but still got cited because someone complained it was "unsightly." It turned into a whole ordeal with appeals and paperwork. I worry guidelines or inspections would just give more power to nitpickers and busybodies.

Maybe instead of inspections, the city could just focus on clear, reasonable criteria—like no obvious leaks, no broken windows, or flat tires—and leave responsible owners alone. Less room for interpretation, fewer headaches for everyone involved...

Agree 100%. As someone who babies a vintage Benz in the garage, vague rules scare me. Clear-cut guidelines = fewer headaches and less ammo for neighborhood drama queens...

Totally get the anxiety—just bought insurance for my first classic, and vague city rules had me sweating bullets. Clear guidelines would be a lifesaver because:

- Easier to know exactly what's expected (no guessing games).
- Less chance of some bored neighbor using unclear rules to stir up trouble.
- Honestly, inspections sound like a hassle...and expensive.

Just give us straightforward criteria already. Life's complicated enough without bureaucratic hide-and-seek.

Went through something similar when my city updated parking regs last year. Totally agree clear rules would help because:

- Ambiguity just fuels neighbor drama.
- Inspections can spiral into unexpected costs.
- Knowing exact expectations upfront saves headaches later.

Hang in there, it does get easier...eventually.

Totally get your points, but do you think clarity alone would actually stop neighbors from nitpicking? Seems like some folks just love drama no matter how clear the rules are. Also, curious—did inspections affect your insurance rates at all? I'm looking into coverage for my classic now, and the last thing I need is surprise costs popping up later...
