I totally get the appeal of playing it safe, but I’ve always wondered how strict those mileage caps really are in practice. Has anyone here actually had an insurer check odometer readings or challenge a claim based on going over? I’ve heard stories both ways—some folks say insurers don’t really care unless it’s way over, others say they’re sticklers. Makes me curious if it’s more of a technicality or something they actively enforce.
I’ve always wondered about this too. My uncle’s got a ‘68 Mustang and he swears the insurance folks never check unless you’re, like, driving it to the moon and back. But then again, he also thinks Bluetooth is witchcraft, so who knows. Has anyone ever had to actually prove their mileage? Or do most people just cross their fingers and hope for the best?
