Been looking into getting my '68 Mustang insured properly—finally got it restored and she's looking sweet. But man, the quotes I'm getting from regular insurance companies are kinda steep. I mean, I get it, older cars can be tricky, but this isn't my daily driver or anything. It's mostly weekend cruises and the occasional car show.

I've heard there might be some ways to cut down the cost if the car is considered "classic," or if it's only driven limited miles per year. Anyone here have experience with specialty insurance companies or know if there's a way to qualify for lower rates? I don't wanna skimp on coverage, but I also don't wanna pay through the nose for a car that's gonna spend most of its time looking pretty in my garage, you know?

Any advice or recommendations would be awesome.

Yeah, you're on the right track. Look into specialty classic car insurers—Hagerty, Grundy, those types. Usually cheaper if you limit mileage and keep it garaged. Regular policies rarely cut it for classics.

True, but have you checked if your current insurer offers a low-mileage discount? Sometimes it's worth asking—might save you the hassle of switching companies altogether. Just something to consider before jumping ship...

Yeah, mileage limits and garage storage definitely help, but honestly, I've found the biggest savings come from specialty classic car insurers. I used to stick with my regular insurance thinking loyalty mattered...turns out it didn't. Switched my '68 Mustang over to a classic policy and cut my premium nearly in half. Just gotta watch out for their restrictions—some can be pretty strict about how you use your ride.
