Would it really hurt their bottom line that much to let us stack a coupon and some points once in a while?
I get where you're coming from, but I think stores have to be extra cautious with these policies. Even if not everyone uses their points, there’s still a financial liability on the books for all unredeemed rewards. It’s a bit like planning a road trip—you might not hit every stop you map out, but you need to budget for gas to reach all of them, just in case. If they let everyone stack coupons and points, it could add up fast, especially during big sales or holiday rushes. I can see why they'd play it safe, even if it feels stingy sometimes.
