Interesting points, but honestly, aren't most parking lot fender-benders more about driver impatience than the type of parking space? I've seen people whip around corners or speed down aisles without even looking... makes me wonder if wider spaces or angled spots really solve the actual problem. Maybe it's more about driver behavior and less about parking design? Curious if there's data on that angle too.

That's a fair question... I've handled plenty of claims from parking lot incidents, and honestly, impatience or distraction seems to be the common thread. I remember one case where wider spaces were introduced at a shopping center, but we still saw just as many minor collisions—mostly from drivers backing out without checking mirrors properly. Makes me wonder if any studies have looked specifically at whether design changes actually reduce these incidents or just shift the problem elsewhere.

I'm still learning, but honestly, parking lots stress me out way more than actual roads... I've noticed people just backing out without even glancing around.

"impatience or distraction seems to be the common thread"
totally matches what I've seen—maybe better habits would help more than bigger spaces?

Totally get what you're saying about parking lots. I've been driving forever and still find them annoying sometimes... People just seem to zone out once they're parked, checking phones or whatever, then suddenly reverse without a glance. Honestly, habits matter way more than space size—I've seen tiny lots work fine when everyone's paying attention. Maybe some clearer markings or mirrors could help too, but mostly it's just about staying alert.

This hits home for me. I drive a luxury sedan, but honestly, I'm way more concerned about practical stuff like avoiding dings and scratches. Last month, I was at Trader Joe's—tiny lot, you know how it is—and this guy next to me just starts backing out without even glancing up from his phone. Missed me by inches. No insurance savings can make up for that stress... Clearer markings might help, but yeah, it's mostly about people paying attention.
