"Mileage restrictions can be a pain if you're someone who enjoys spontaneous drives..."

Yeah, tell me about it. My '79 Corvette qualified for classic coverage, but those mileage limits cramped my style big time. There's nothing like deciding on a whim to hit Route 66 for burgers and shakes just to realize you're dangerously close to your annual limit. Still, the savings made it worth the hassle...mostly. Good luck with the Mustangβ€”fingers crossed the insurers are feeling generous!

I get the appeal of those classic car coverage deals, but honestly, the mileage limits always worried me too. When I had my old Miata, I briefly considered switching to one of those specialized policies. But then I thought about how quickly weekend drives and occasional errands add upβ€”even without spontaneous Route 66 burger runs. I'd hate the stress of constantly checking my odometer or second-guessing whether a drive is "worth it." I'm already cautious enough without adding that anxiety to my plate, lol.

Still, it's cool that you managed to balance the savings versus freedom equation. I'm sure your Corvette appreciated the special treatment. For now, I'll stick with standard coverage and pay a bit more for peace of mind...and unlimited coffee shop detours.

Yeah, that's exactly what kept me from pulling the trigger on those specialty policies. I mean, saving cash is always tempting, but how much are we really talking about here? Is it enough to justify constantly worrying about mileage limits? I know myself too wellβ€”I'd probably end up skipping drives altogether just to avoid the stress...and what's the point of owning a fun car if you're hesitant to actually enjoy it?

I get the hesitation, but honestly, I've had a specialty policy before and it's not as stressful as it sounds. The mileage limits were pretty generous, so unless you're road-tripping every weekend, you'd probably be fine. The key is knowing your driving habits upfront and choosing a mileage tier that fits comfortably. Have you checked out how much extra mileage actually costs if you go over? Usually it's not as scary as people think...

Yeah, specialty policies aren't bad at all. We had one on our family van for a couple yearsβ€”thought we'd be cutting it close, but even with soccer games and weekend errands, we never hit the limit. And like you said, the overage fees weren't terrible either...
