Totally with you on comprehensive coverage—had a close call myself last year when an icy branch decided to land right on my windshield overnight. Thankfully, insurance covered most of it, but still... ouch. Another thing I've found helpful is asking about low-mileage discounts. Working remotely cut my driving way down, and turns out some insurers actually reward that. Might be worth a quick call to check?

Great point about mileage discounts—I noticed a nice drop in my premiums too after I started working from home more. Couple other things I've found helpful:

- **Bundling policies:** I combined my home and auto insurance last year and was surprised at how much I saved. Definitely worth asking your insurer about multi-policy discounts.
- **Defensive driving courses:** Even if you're an experienced driver, some insurers offer decent discounts for completing these courses online. It's a bit tedious, but hey... savings are savings.
- **Garage parking:** If you have the option, mentioning that your car is parked in a garage overnight can sometimes shave a bit off your premium. Especially handy during our Alaskan winters when weather-related claims spike.

Also, totally agree on comprehensive coverage—had a moose wander dangerously close to my car last winter. Thankfully nothing happened, but it reminded me how quickly things can go sideways up here.

Mileage discounts are seriously underrated—good catch. Did your insurer make you install one of those tracking apps, or was it just based on your reported mileage? Bundling helped me too, but defensive driving didn't really move the needle much for me. Maybe it's insurer-specific? Either way, dodging moose definitely makes comprehensive coverage a no-brainer up here... glad your car survived that close call.

Haha, dodging moose should definitely qualify as defensive driving, right? Did your insurer at least give you credit for that near-miss? Mine just went off reported mileage too—no tracking apps here, thankfully... my driving playlist choices are embarrassing enough without witnesses.

Haha, moose dodging should definitely count as a skill—I swear my reflexes are sharper since moving here. My insurer didn't seem impressed though, sadly. I've heard some companies give discounts if you take winter driving courses or something similar... anyone tried that? Wondering if it's worth the hassle.
