Why does insurance cost more in Houston than Austin or Dallas?

Honestly, I think it’s a mix of both—claims history and the value of the cars. Houston’s got a reputation for more accidents and flooding, which probably drives up rates across the board. I’ve had my sedan parked in a “safe” area and still had someone sideswipe it. Do you think weather plays a bigger role than crime, or is it just the cost of repairs that tips the scale?

I hear you—Houston’s like a magnet for weird weather and bad luck. My old Mustang survived hail, but a rogue shopping cart got it in the end. I honestly think it’s a toss-up between weather and crime, but those repair costs are no joke either. Even a tiny fender bender can cost more than my first car did. Hang in there... insurance in Houston is just its own beast.
