Tried temporary insurance coverage - worth it or waste of money?

"Insurance companies are sneaky like that - always some fine print or loophole you never even thought to check."

Yeah, learned this lesson myself a while back. Thought my policy covered rental cars automatically... nope, only liability, not collision. Ended up dinging a rental bumper and paying out of pocket - ouch. Now I always double-check specifics beforehand, and temporary coverage has saved me more than once. Annoying extra step, sure, but way cheaper than surprise repair bills or tickets. You're definitely not alone on this one.

Temporary coverage is usually worth it, especially if you're dealing with rentals or borrowing someone's ride. Learned this the hard way when I borrowed my buddy's classic Mustang - thought my regular policy had me covered, but nope... ended up paying for a cracked headlight myself. Now I always grab temporary coverage for peace of mind. Few bucks upfront beats surprise repair bills any day.

Completely agree, temporary coverage makes sense - especially if you're unsure about your primary policy details. Policies often have hidden exclusions for borrowed or rented vehicles. A quick check beforehand can save a lot of headaches... learned this from my instructor after I asked about rental cars.

Definitely makes sense to double-check first. When I got my first policy, I assumed borrowed cars were covered automatically - turns out, nope. Temporary coverage was a quick fix till I sorted things out. Saved me from stressing about it later...

Had a similar experience myself - borrowed my brother's car for a weekend trip, assumed my regular policy covered it. Nope, learned that lesson fast. Temporary insurance was cheap enough and way better than risking a huge bill later...
