What should a high-risk driver compare at State Farm renewal?

If a State Farm renewal comes in high for a driver with a rough record, how do you compare raising the collision or comprehensive deductible with dropping optional coverage? I’d want to know whether the driver’s history affects which changes State Farm will offer or how they’re priced, and whether the premium savings are actually worth the extra out-of-pocket risk.

I’d keep liability limits separate in the comparison, since changing a physical-damage deductible doesn’t change liability protection. What would you ask the agent to quote side by side, and which optional coverages or exclusions are worth checking before deciding?

Rental reimbursement is worth pricing separately before dropping optional coverage. The practical test is whether you could cover alternate transportation while your car is being repaired after a covered loss; even a modest premium saving may not be worth that expense if it would strain your budget. Check the policy’s limit and what triggers the benefit, since it doesn’t cover every reason a car might be unavailable.
