Confused about insurance rules in South Dakota - help me figure this out

I feel this in my soul. I just bought my first insurance policy and I swear, the amount of paperwork they give you is wild. I’ve got a folder too, stuffed with everything from the little insurance card to receipts for oil changes (just in case?). My friend once got pulled over and the cop only wanted registration and proof of insurance - nothing weird. I think as long as you’ve got those, you’re golden. But yeah, I still keep my “just in case” folder because you never know when someone’s gonna ask for your birth certificate or a blood sample or something ridiculous.
