What happens if your rideshare app is between trips and you get into an accident?

Let’s say you’re waiting for a new ride request, just chilling in your car with the app on, but you’re not actually driving anyone yet. Then bam, someone rear-ends you. Would your personal insurance cover it, or is that on the rideshare company? I’ve heard there’s some weird gray area here and it’s kinda stressing me out. Has anyone dealt with this or know what would happen?

That “gray area” is a nightmare. I once had my app on while grabbing coffee, thinking I was being productive. Some guy sideswiped my car in the drive-thru. My insurance agent practically did cartwheels to explain why neither policy wanted to touch it. It’s like you need a law degree just to figure out if you’re covered or not. I swear, insurance jargon is more confusing than IKEA instructions... and at least with IKEA, you end up with a chair.
