At this point, I’ll take the tow—less hassle, less stress.
Honestly, I get it. These “smart” cars are like that one friend who’s always trying to help but just ends up making things weird. I’ve seen folks try to outsmart their own car and end up needing a tow anyway. Sometimes, letting roadside do its thing is just... easier on the nerves (and your insurance).

That’s a pretty accurate comparison. I’ve had my share of “smart” car moments where the tech just gets in the way—give me a carburetor and a wrench any day. Still, I get why folks prefer the tow. Modern systems can be so finicky that even popping the hood feels pointless. At least with classics, you know what you’re dealing with... usually.

That’s the catch, isn’t it? “Usually” being the key word. I’ve seen plenty of classics on the side of the road, too—sometimes it’s just a different set of headaches. The “smart” cars can be a pain when the dashboard lights up like a Christmas tree and you need a computer just to figure out why. But I’ll admit, when Progressive’s roadside folks show up, they seem less fazed by all that tech than I am. Maybe I’m just getting old, but sometimes I miss when a dead battery was just… a dead battery.
I get the nostalgia for simpler cars, but honestly, I’d rather deal with a complicated warning light than a mystery leak or a carburetor that decides to quit in the middle of nowhere. At least with newer models, there’s a system in place—even if it’s a headache sometimes. I’d rather have a dashboard full of codes than be stranded with a classic that needs a part nobody stocks anymore.

Totally get where you’re coming from. I’ve had my share of “what’s that puddle under the car?” moments with older rides. At least with newer cars, you usually get a heads-up before things go sideways. The tech can be annoying, but it’s saved me from being stuck more than once.
