Does “occasional use” mean the same thing to every Oklahoma insurer?
Discussion options
If a student drives a household member’s car now and then, how do Oklahoma insurers decide whether that counts as occasional use or regular access that needs to be disclosed? I’m especially curious how they handle it when the student and the car’s owner live at different addresses. The same student might also drive another car at their own address, so I wouldn’t assume one policy automatically covers every car they use.
When a separate policy is allowed, what’s the fairest way to compare it with being listed on the owner’s policy? I’d want to line up who’s covered to drive which car, liability limits, deductibles, and any relevant exclusions, rather than comparing premiums alone. Is the answer mostly company-specific, or are there Oklahoma rules that shape what insurers will accept?
