Insurance spike after DUI in NM - anyone else shocked by the rates?

Got hit with a DUI a while back (yeah, dumb mistake, I know), and my insurance premiums basically skyrocketed overnight. Wasn't expecting it to be THIS steep...has anyone else dealt with something similar here in NM?

Man, I'm shopping around for my first insurance policy right now, and even without a DUI, the quotes I'm seeing are already making me sweat. Can't imagine what they're charging you after something like that... Did you try checking with smaller local companies? Heard from a buddy that sometimes they can be less brutal than the big names. Or is it pretty much the same across the board here in NM?
