Parking outside during home repairs

If a car usually stays in a garage but has to sit in the driveway or on the street while home repairs are underway, does that temporary change in parking location usually matter to the insurer?

I’m curious how long “temporary” can be before it’s worth updating the garaging information, and whether that’s different from putting a car in storage. Would comprehensive and collision generally stay in force as written, or should the owner confirm anything specific before moving it? I wouldn’t assume every Michigan insurer handles the change the same way.

- The policy’s definition of “principal garaging” and its reporting rules are what matter, not a universal number of days. If repairs mean the car is expected to be parked outside for an extended stretch, check with the insurer whether that changes the garaging information on the policy. A brief, incidental move may be treated differently.
