mediation vs arbitration: which works better in real life?

I've been reading up on mediation and arbitration lately, and honestly, I'm still kinda torn. Mediation seems more flexible and friendly, but arbitration feels like it gets things done quicker. Curious what you guys prefer and why?

Yeah, I get where you're coming from. Mediation's nice in theory - everyone talks it out, feels heard, etc. - but honestly, I've seen it drag on forever without any real resolution. Arbitration can be blunt, sure, but at least you usually walk away with a clear decision. That said, if both parties are genuinely cooperative, mediation can save relationships and future headaches. Guess it depends on how much goodwill's left between everyone involved...
