I’m especially unsure whether the answer changes if the trip is for paid work rather than a DIY project.

Would the car owner’s permission affect coverage, and is there a difference between damage to the borrowed car itself and liability for damage to someone else’s property? I’d want to know what the owner and driver should confirm with the insurer before making the trip, without assuming that permission alone settles it.

I’m comparing Indiana auto insurance quotes for a vehicle driven about 10,000 to 12,000 miles a year, including occasional trips to home-improvement stores for lumber, flooring, tools, and other supplies. The current comprehensive and collision deductibles are both $500. One quote lowers the premium by roughly $150 to $250 per year if I raise each deductible to $1,000, but I’m unsure whether that savings justifies the extra out-of-pocket risk.

The hauling would be occasional, not commercial use, but those trips mean more loading, parking-lot exposure, and highway driving than normal errands. I’m thinking about realistic claims such as:

- A windshield replacement or hail damage under comprehensive
- Theft or damage to the vehicle while tools are inside
- A parking-lot scrape or collision while carrying materials
- A larger crash repair where the deductible is only a small part of the total

For anyone comparing these numbers, how do you weigh the annual savings against keeping enough emergency cash for a $1,000 claim? Does the vehicle’s age and market value change your answer?

My renewal's coming up fast, and I noticed some places offer to bundle your car insurance right when you do the registration stuff online. Seems convenient, you know, one-and-done kinda deal. But then again, I've always kept 'em separate so I can shop around for better insurance rates every year. Anyone got experience with this? Is bundling worth the convenience or should I stick to my usual routine?

Every car he owns ends up in some freak accident or weird mishap, like deer collisions, runaway shopping carts, or that one time a tree branch just randomly fell on his parked car. Now he's stuck with sky-high insurance rates and driving anxiety. Anyone else wanna add to Jerry's saga or got a similar story?

Last weekend, I was visiting family in Indiana and rented a car for the trip. Everything was going fine until, um, I got into a minor fender bender - nothing serious, just a little dent and some scratches. But then came the headache of figuring out insurance. I declined the rental company's extra coverage because my credit card supposedly covers rentals, but when I called them up afterward, they started throwing around terms like "secondary coverage" and "primary coverage," and honestly, it got confusing real quick.

Ended up spending half the day on the phone bouncing between my credit card company, my personal auto insurance, and the rental place. Still not totally sure who's paying for what or if I'm gonna be stuck with some surprise bill later on. Has anyone else had something similar happen when renting cars in Indiana or elsewhere? Would love to hear how you sorted it out or if there's something obvious I'm missing here...
