Why did my GEICO premium jump so much this year?

The “where you live” explanation is worth checking, but I wouldn’t compare companies using price alone. Ask GEICO for the rating factors on the renewal, then request competing quotes with the same liability limits, deductibles, mileage, vehicle use, and driver information. A lower quote may simply have thinner coverage or different assumptions.

Also verify that the renewal lists the correct garaging address, annual mileage, drivers, and discounts. A small data error can look like a regional increase. Defensive-driving and low-mileage discounts are still worth asking about, but a $20 annual credit won’t explain or offset a major hike.
