When a body shop uncovers additional accident damage during disassembly, what documentation usually helps the insurer review a supplement? I’m especially curious whether photos of the exposed damage are generally enough, or whether the shop also needs to provide parts and labor details or other findings.

Does the shop typically send that material directly to the adjuster, or should the policyholder submit it too? And is it normal to pause the newly identified work until the insurer reviews the supplement, with authorization clarified before the shop proceeds? I’d like to understand how people avoid confusion over who approved what.

First, I made sure to document everything - photos, videos, receipts, you name it. Then I walked the inspector through step-by-step, pointing out every little detail. Seemed to help speed things up a bit. But um...still felt kinda messy. Wondering if anyone has a smoother way of handling these inspections or tips to make it less stressful?

I mean, I kinda figured they'd try to save money, but didn't realize it's actually part of their standard training. Makes sense now why my cousin kept insisting on countering their first offer after his accident. Curious if anyone else has heard about this or has other insights on dealing with insurance people.

Had some water damage from a pipe leak, thought it was pretty straightforward, but nope - they're saying it's not covered because of some technicality about "gradual damage" or something. Um, isn't that exactly why we have insurance? Feels like they're just looking for reasons to say no. Has anyone else had their claim rejected for weird reasons like this? Curious if this is common or if I'm just unlucky here...
