I've been trying to figure out the best way to pick my car insurance deductible lately, and honestly, it's a bit of a headache. Here's what I've been doing: first, I looked at my savings account to see how much I could comfortably pay if something happened. Then I compared monthly premiums at different deductible levels—like $250, $500, and $1000—to see how much I'd save each month by going higher.

After crunching some numbers, I realized that if I went with the higher deductible, I'd save enough money over a year or two to cover the difference if I ever had an accident. But then again, there's always that nagging worry about having to suddenly cough up a grand if something does happen, you know?

Anyway, that's my method—basically just comparing savings vs. risk and seeing what feels comfortable. But I'm curious if anyone else has a smarter or easier way of figuring this out. Maybe I'm missing something obvious?

I mean, yeah, saving money is nice, but I don't wanna be stuck paying outta pocket if something serious happens. How do you guys figure out exactly how much coverage makes sense without wasting cash on stuff you won't ever really use? Curious how everyone else approaches this.
