Thinking About Dropping Allstate - Better to Call or Cancel Online?

Been thinking about switching insurance companies lately, and I'm currently with Allstate. Wondering if it's easier or better to cancel by calling them directly or just doing it online. I've heard mixed things - some say calling gets you better offers or discounts to stay, others say online is quicker and less hassle. Honestly, I hate phone calls (awkward silences, anyone?), but if it saves me money...um, maybe worth it? Curious what worked best for you guys.
